Saṁyutta is the past participle of saṁyujjati which means to bind or bind. A saṃyutta is a booklet in which the speeches (suttas) are presented tied, a poetic image used to refer to bundles of packaged speeches using their theme as a criterion. Thus, the Saṁyutta Nikāya means "a collection of bound booklets" that are grouped by topic. However, a more precise denomination would be that of “Intertwined Discourses”, based on its structure, development and presentation. The Saṁyutta Nikaya is the most important doctrinal set, where all the doctrinal topics are exhaustively addressed, with all their variations, presenting the essential biographical component to be able to locate the teachings in their place of delivery.
In order to approach the Authorized Biography of the Buddha, it will be essential to have reliable translations of the six collections and since they do not exist, a meticulous restoration of the information has had to be undertaken from insufficient, manipulated and poorly preserved texts.
